A Mother's Guide: 12 Essential Items for Your Babe's Health

mothers guide for healthy baby

Hey mamas! I'm super excited to share with you my arsenal of essentials we use to keep our babe healthy and thriving. I’m sure you’d agree that our babies and toddlers deserve the very best, especially when it comes to their health and wellness, as nothing pulls at your heart quite like a sick little one. So, without further ado, let's dive into my top 12 picks:

When our little ones aren't feeling their best, we want to provide relief that's safe and effective. Genexa offers a gentle, organic option for reducing pain and fever, giving us peace of mind. This is not to say I’m against infants Tylenol at all, but when there is a more natural and just as effective option, I’ll almost always take it.

Let me preface this with that I’ve tested out four different humidifiers for my son’s room, and this one is my favorite. Dealing with congestion is never fun, but this dynamic duo from Frida Baby makes it a little less stressful. The cool mist humidifier paired with the soothing vapor drops helps our babies breathe easier, especially during those stuffy nights. Only a few drops needed each night to make a big impact.

I couldn’t stand sucking boogers from my sons nose with the super common Baby Frida manual sucker. Also, after about 6 months, my son fought having that done to him so hard it was a two-person job to clear his nose. Now, say goodbye to boogers and stuffy noses with the Dr. Noze Best Hospital Grade Electric Nasal Aspirator. This gentle yet effective device helps clear your baby's nasal passages, promoting better breathing and more restful sleep. It has three power settings and an easy handheld device that does the sucking for you. I wish we had this from the beginning. 100% worth the money.

Boosting our little one's immune system naturally is a top priority, and these elderberry drops from Mary Ruth Organics do just that. I myself have been taking elderberry for years to keep my immune system strong, and now I’ve found one that my son is happy to take as well. Packed with immune-boosting goodness, they're a must-have especially during cold and flu season. My son likes taking it from the dropper, but it also works well mixed into yogurts or fruit pouches.

Clean air is essential for our little one's health, and this air purifier from Shark ensures that they're breathing in nothing but the best. We had it in our room when my son was sleeping in the basinet next to us, and moved it to his room when he started sleeping it the crib. It has a nice light white noise, depending on which setting you put it on, and shows you exactly what is currently in the air along with air quality percentage. Say goodbye to dust, allergens, and other airborne nasties!

It feels like diaper changes are constantly happening with newborns, and continue to happen frequently for what feels like forever (a few years). After trying this diaper balm when my son was about 3 months old, we found many diaper rashes can be prevented with using this organic diaper balm from Earth Mama every few changes and after baths. It provides gentle yet effective protection against irritation and inflammation. They say prevention is the best form of medicine (idk who says it, but I’ve heard it). Use code MOMMINGSIMPLIFIED for 10% Off.

When it does end up happening, diaper rash is no joke. Thankfully Boudreaux's Butt Paste has a solid formula to heal the rashes our son experienced! It forms a protective barrier while soothing and healing irritated skin, keeping little ones comfortable and happy. Moms know this stuff is magical.

For babes (and parents) ages 1+, Mary Ruth Organics Liquid Nighttime Multivitamin is an excellent addition to the night time routine before bed. Ensure your little one gets the nutrients they need for a restful night's sleep with this gentle formula that supports healthy sleep patterns and overall well-being. It is vegan, gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and melatonin free. Everyone 1+ in the family can enjoy it, and the pineapple flavor has been our favorite. My son calls it his “nighttime yummies”.

Bath time just became more fun with these natural vapor bath bombs from Frida Baby. When your little one is stuffy, or feeling any sort of sickness, they help clear congestion and soothe tired muscles. My son surprisingly has been sleeping fairly well whenever he is sick. I think with help from these bath bombs and our winning combination of sleep must-have I discussed in my last post "10 Must-Have Sleep Products for Tired Parents and Restless Babes".

For babies and early toddlers with colic or digestion irritations, Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottles are here to help. Their innovative design reduces air intake, helping to minimize gas and discomfort. We tried so many different cute, pretty, or easy to clean bottles before I finally gave in and tried these ones. If we have another baby I would only use these ones. Having a babe with painful gas is so hard on you both, do yourself a favor and start with these bottles.

Studies show that introducing allergens early can help reduce the risk of allergies later on, and SpoonfulONE made it easy with their allergen introduction snacks. We started giving these little puffs to our son around 8 months old until a little over 1 year old as allergies seem to be so common and often severe nowadays, and I have zero regrets. Our son has not had any reactions to any food (knocking on wood), and if there is a chance to potentially avoid your child struggling with allergies later in life why not try, right? Plus, they're delicious and he loved them, making snack time a win-win!

Last but certainly not least, having a well-stocked baby kit is essential for handling life's little emergencies. Safety 1st had us covered with their deluxe 25-piece baby kit, complete with all the essentials for on-the-go health and wellness. Whether it’s the gripe water for little bellies or the thermometer to verify their temperature, this kit has you covered.

And there you have it, my top 12 essentials we love for keeping our sweet babe healthy. I hope this gave you some new ideas and that they can be just as helpful for you and your little ones.
